In an unprecedented response to homelessness in our community, Pierce County and the City of Tacoma established the Stability Site. After a growing number of homeless men and women began residing under the 705 overpass community leadership took action to ensure these folks had access to a safe living environment and the opportunity to find greater stability.
Catholic Community Services was asked to take responsibility of the site and to offer each resident the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. In the time since it's creation CCS has seen many success stories. We've seen lifelong struggles with addiction end, those with severe disability now have access to the support they deserve, and many have transitioned from chronic homelessness into stable housing.
With the FIT TO FEED 2018 fundraiser, we're looking to tell another success story. CCS staff members are standing shoulder to shoulder with residents of the Stability Site to raise the funds necessary to provide on-site meals. These meals will be accessible at the Stability Site and served, not only by CCS, but by many other partners and service providers in Pierce County.
