I am among the hundreds of people who volunteer with the Youth Tutoring Program (YTP). This great program helps students in Seattle area low-income housing communities reach their dreams. Almost all of the students are from immigrant families. The program serves kids in first through twelfth grade, so we get to see them grow, from sounding out Dr. Seuss books to writing college essays.

We tutors are "free"—but the staff people to train us, schedule us, pair us with appropriate students, and guide us are not free. Nor are the office supplies or the snacks for the kids. YTP does a lot with a lean budget. Your donation—whether it's $10 or $110—will be used well.
