I've been a weekly volunteer tutor with the Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) for more than 10 years and I've seen firsthand what a difference it makes in the daily, weekly, and long-term lives of the kids. This program serves students in Seattle's low-income housing communities, most of whom come from refugee and immigrant families where they simply can't get the academic help they need at home. YTP does amazing things with very little money. I can't imagine how these kids would fare without the tutoring and mentoring they get at YTP, and yet there are hundreds of kids who stay on the waiting list for years. More resources will help the program get the word out to recruit more volunteers like me and ensure that the program can continue. Please support this worthwhile program.
