I am among the several hundred volunteer tutors with the Youth Tutoring Program (YTP). This great program helps first- through twelfth-grade students in Seattle area low-income housing communities, most from immigrant families, reach their dreams. Students increase their grades, stay motivated, and complete high school with plans for college and a promising future.
This October, YTP is holding its Readathon Fund Drive. During this drive, students compete in fun reading events while YTP supporters raise funds to help the program thrive. Please support me in my efforts to help YTP by making a contribution to the Readathon!
We tutors are "free"--but the staff people to develop skills packets, train us, schedule us, pair us with appropriate students, and guide us are not free. Nor are the office supplies or the snacks for the kids. YTP does a lot with a lean budget. Your donation--whether it's $10 or $100--will be used well.
YTP's two big fundraising events each year are the Readathon in the fall and the Dream Big breakfast in the spring. If you'd like to join me at the breakfast, I'm always looking for nice folks for my table.
